Prof. Mishra raised the question about the relevance of Gandhi. He said that Gandhi was understood and also was misunderstood. However, he was the first philosopher to harmonize all purshardhas or human values of Indian tradition by giving primacy to Dharma. Gandhi gave impetus to ethical independence; his idea of swaraj begins with non-violence and ends with non-violence. His experience in South Africa made him to study in depth of Indian problems as poverty, issues of farmers and Indian economy. He then fought for liberation of the nation with his soul force (moral strength).
Prof. Mishra expounded the management skills of Gandhi. Truth, simplicity, transparency, ahimsa are the qualities that any corporate governance must care for in the management of its firm. Prof Mishra said that Gandhi’s philosophy helps the teachers of management to bring a ‘spark’ to rekindle the original quality of student, to make him courageous, to perform a task, to communicate well and to build an institution. Gandhiji was always ahead in planning, to help self assurance and to build an Institution.
